Ready To Dance Episode 3: Marseille

This third episode of Ready To Dance marks a turning point for the Ready To Dance series: it is the first to be planned rather than entirely improvised. Marseille, where it was filmed, is a city with a complex relationship to two-wheel culture. Its youth — whether formally part of the bikelife movement or not — have long been associated with high-risk riding. In Marseille, bikelife is not limited to dirt bikes; it spans large-engine scooters, sport bikes, and a mix of riders from both disadvantaged neighborhoods and affluent areas. It is a city known for its constant sunlight, but also one where the French state has been legally condemned for failing to respond appropriately to the rise of this phenomenon.

The episode is structured in several chapters, each documenting a specific practice and its community. It features Dydy on his Tmax; Les Pirates du 13, whose group rideouts often take place on major highways to minimize disruption within the city; Melvyn and Ayoub, who train on private lanes or closed-off roads; and F, who continues to ride through Marseille’s urban core despite a fractured ankle. Their accounts are direct and unfiltered. Some riders have faced prison sentences linked to their activities, others have spent time in the hospital, and many simply describe a need for escape — a brief window of freedom amid daily pressure.
